Green Broom are a low impact agricultural co-operative with nine members, located on the Hardwick Estate in Crays Pond, South Oxfordshire. They supply a variety of delicious vegetables, fruit and herbs in season.

They grow high quality organic produce for the needs of the local area, working the land with organic and permaculture methods which naturally build soil fertility, and actively promote wildlife and biodiversity. They cultivate crops by hand without the use of fossil fuels, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides or artificial fertilisers.

They offer a zero carbon cycle delivery service to residents of Crays Pond, Woodcote, Goring Heath and Whitchurch Hill. Orders can also be collected from the farm shop, and weekly or twice weekly veg boxes are available.

The idea behind our Community Farm Garden is to introduce newcomers from our locality to the process of planting, growing and eating naturally grown vegetables and fruits as an alternative to supermarket mass produce. We have small plots of a variety of plants that demonstrate how easy it is to cultivate anything in a small area. If vegetables aren’t your ‘thing’, we also have a selection of perennials that will brighten up any space, no matter how small.

Broad range of vegetables, salad and soft fruit. Longhorn cattle. Traditional breed pigs & chickens. Preserves.

Mount Woodlands & Farm Garden also run occasional events, such as a ‘Bat Walk’ last August.

Website: Five Acres Wholesome Food

Suppliers of delicious fruit, Five Acres grow over 75 varieties apple, plum and gage tree and have national recognition for the orchard, including an early entry as one of Rick Stein’s ‘Food Heroes’. The varieties they grow are often referred to as ‘heritage’varieties, which is another way of saying very good quality and taste but, for commercial reasons, ignored by the major apple growers

Their oldest variety is a small, flat late dessert called Court Pendu Plat which is believed to date from Roman times. You can try Costard, reputedly sold by Nell Gwynne and the fruit that gave us the term Costermonger, or the majestic Blenheim Orange, beloved by the Victorians and used by modern day patissiers, for tarte tatin

The orchard comprises 400 bush and half standard trees and about 1,000 columnar trees. They grow Apples, Pears, Plums, Gages, Damsons and Kent Cobs. All the fruit trees were grafted by them from scion wood supplied from the National Fruit Collection at Brogdale in Kent

We’re a small local business, producing fruit, vegetables, and other farm products on our eighteen-acre site in Frome, Somerset.

We sell most of our produce locally through our vegetable box scheme because we believe that food should be grown as close as possible to where it’s eaten. That way, we can reduce the environmental impact of our farming. We can also provide our customers with fresh produce (most of it is picked on the day it’s sold!), and grow tasty home-garden varieties you won’t find in the supermarkets.
